Job Summary:
|
The EHS Specialist assists in enforcing the EHS Program at all BioSpectra facilities by ensuring that the necessary resources are in place throughout the company and by communicating the expectations of EHS policies, guidelines, and regulations to all personnel. The EHS Specialist inspects the workplace daily for compliance to environmental, health and safety policies. Through such inspections, the EHS Specialist identifies any potential concerns and establishes processes and procedures to implement the necessary systems that are designed to prevent injury to employees and release to the environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
|
- Informs BioSpectra Personnel of EHS information and requirements through training, visual aids, inspection reports, facility walkthrough findings and department communication.
- Verifies Environmental, Health and Safety related SOPs and policies are current and compliant to regulatory agencies.
- Updates EHS Procedures where required.
- Conducts facility safety inspections.
- Provides Safety related competency checks for all BioSpectra personnel at the designated frequency.
- Reports and investigates EHS incidents and provides recommendations for corrective actions.
- Performs daily walkthrough in support of the EHS program.
- Ensures each BioSpectra facility operates in compliance with RCRA.
- Performs industrial hygiene monitoring.
- Assists with permit filings, semiannual reports, storm-water sampling, and maintenance inspections by creating reports or obtaining necessary documentation.
- Replaces Eye Wash bottles and other EHS consumables throughout the facility, as necessary.
- Stocks and manages EHS PPE where necessary.
- Tracks EHS inventory for each BioSpectra facility.
- Maintains corrective and preventive action trackers for Incidents, investigations and areas of non-compliance.
- Updates SDS information and ensures SDS binders at each BioSpectra facility are current.
- Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
|
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Professional certification for safety or environmental preferred.
- Good working knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety principals, safety requirements, and environmental regulations in an industrial chemical environment.
- Experience working with hazardous materials
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with management, to understand and follow standard operating procedures, to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance, to write and investigate required reports; to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- OSHA30 certification, or able to obtain the certification within six months of employment
- RCRA certification, or able to obtain the certification within six months of employment
- Emergency Response training, or able to obtain the certification within six months of employment

Physical Requirements:

- Lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to see and distinguish color
- Bend, stoop, and carry
- Repeating motion that may include wrists, hands, and fingers

Work Hours & Schedule:
|
- Exempt Position
- Minimum of 40-45 Hours Week, or other agreed upon documented schedule
- Ability and willingness to work from all BioSpectra facilities
