Dextran Powder, M.W. 6,000 is a glucose polymer made by the fermentation of sugar by a specific bacterium. It is defined as a “branched poly-α-dglucoside” having predominant C-1 to C-6 bonds. Dextran polymers are freely soluble in water and other solvents. Dextran polymer is biodegradable and biocompatible and has a wide range of industrial applications in food, flavor, fragrance, Life Science and other applications.
